In May, the Cook County Board passed the Just Housing Ordinance, which prohibits property owners from inquiring about a prospect’s criminal background until after they conditionally approve them.

The Ordinance is slated to take effect on October 25, 2019, as the Cook County Human Rights Commission fine tunes the rules governing the approval process.

We encourage you to reach out to your County Commissioner with questions or comments.
